Say What!?

Momma's Boys!

Asa had his 2 month appointment last Thursday, and as most of you know, he is a "healthy" boy. He weighed 15 lbs 2 oz, that is above the 100% on the growth chart. So I guess at our house we throw the word "fat" around quite a bit. We tell Asa he is a "fat boy" and he smiles. Mommy had a "fat" belly when she was pregnant. Micah is always talking about how much "fat" is in food, and what foods are healthy (Maybe he should do some marketing for Dream Dinners!) Daddy went to the doctor and decided it was time to shed his pregnancy weight! Well with all this fat talk at our house our children seem to have become desensitized to its meaning. Combine that with Lily's four year old honesty and "Houston we have a problem!"

Sweet Lily!?

Last night we were at my parents house to celebrate my sister in-laws birthday and as we are getting ready to leave...Lily runs full force, shouting "woowhoo" towards my dad (also a "healthy" boy) who is sitting in "his" chair and when she bounces off of his belly she tells him "you're fat grandpa". He tells her to be careful not to hurt Grandpa and that little booger in her most innocent, matter of fact voice comes back with, "that's what you get for being fat grandpa!" This was one of those moments where you wish you could mute all the laughter in the room as to not confuse her when you explain that is not nice to say. I do not think I will tell her anymore "that's what you get for disobeying mommy" when she gets hurt running through the house.

Ah, yes.... The joys of childhood independence! Guess that's what we have to look forward to!
